What is Windmill Energy?

It has always been a dream of mine to live completely off the grid.  How nice would it be to not only help the environment, but to also be able to generate my own energy and be entirely self sufficient? Pretty damn nice.

Whenever I share my vision with someone, I usually get a lot of questions such as ,”What happens when then wind stops blowing? Does your power go out?”  You might laugh, but I’ve actually had someone ask me that question.

Here’s some info about wind power from the American Wind Energy Association:

Small wind turbines are electric generators that utilize wind energy to produce clean, emissions-free power for individual homes, farms, and small businesses. With this simple and increasingly popular technology, individuals can generate their own power and cut their energy bills while helping to protect the environment. The U.S. leads the world in the production of small wind turbines, which are defined as having rated capacities of 100 kilowatts and less, and the market is expected to continue strong growth through the next decade.

Some people don’t realize that you can actually create your own solar and wind energy. It’s not only possible, but I plan to do it when I build my new home.

One Response to “What is Windmill Energy?”

  • With each green step you take, you help solve our planet’s problems. When you buy fair trade coffee, bananas, chocolate, and gifts, you ensure a fair wage for farmers and producers around the world. By choosing organic foods and organic cotton clothing, you put an end to the dangerous pesticides used on conventional crops. By making your home more energy-efficient, you stop global warming and crate a more secure energy future. You restore the Earth. You save lives. — Alicia Gravitz
